Wizz Air announces two new Ljubljana routes to/from Brussels and London

  • Low air fares can reverse tourism decline.

14/05/2012
Wizz Air, the largest low-cost, low-fare airline in Central and Eastern Europe, announced today two new routes from Ljubljana to Brussels-Charleroi and London-Luton from October 2012. These two new routes will deliver over 70,000 passengers in the first year and create up to 70 Ljubljana jobs.

The launch of these routes signals the return of Wizz Air to the Slovenian market 6 years after its first flight to Ljubljana. Wizz Air celebra su 8º Aniversario

Mensaje  RdL el Miér 16 Mayo 2012, 16:30

Wizz Air celebra su 8º Aniversario,

Wizz Air celebrates its 8th anniversary
AND LAUNCHES ITS BIGGEST EVER SALE

15/05/2012
Wizz Air, the largest low-fare, low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, celebrates its 8th anniversary and 8 years of strong growth with its biggest ever seat sale: 8 million seats for just 80% of the regular web fare.

Starting in 2004, Wizz Air was the first airline to bring low fares to Central and Eastern Europe and committed itself to strong passenger and tourism growth in its home markets: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine. Today, Wizz Air operates a fleet of 37 brand new Airbus A320 aircraft that carried over 12 million passengers in the last 12 months. The airline delivers low fares and excellent customer service to/from 76 destinations on over 220 routes across Europe.

To celebrate its low fares, profitable operations, and 8th anniversary, Wizz Air will release 8 million seats at just 80% of their listed regular web fares for bookings made from midnight tonight through until midnight Wednesday (16 May).

We are truly delighted to celebrate Wizz Air’s 8th anniversary. Wizz Air was founded to bring low airfares to Central and Eastern Europe and beyond, and our team of over 1,500 aviation professionals delivers on our promise of really low fares, great customer service and tourism growth. We now operate the youngest and cleanest aircraft fleet in Europe and in our 9th year we will, once more, enjoy double digit growth, which is clearly above average among European airlines in 2012. In the financial year ended 31 March, we grew passenger traffic by 15% and registered a record net profit. This achievement is only possible thanks to lean and efficient business processes, solid financial performance, an outstanding dedicated workforce, and the preference of millions of passengers who choose really low fares and great service. We celebrate this by releasing 8 million seats for just 80% of our regular web fares on all bookings made tomorrow, May 16th, and we urge passengers to snap up one of these low-fare seats at wizzair.com”, said József Váradi, Chief Executive Officer of Wizz Air.

Wizz Air leci do... Lublina

Gdzie polecimy z Lublina? Przewoźnik uruchomi najprawdopodobniej 2 kierunki z nowego portu. Z pewnością będzie to połączenie do Londynu Luton, obsługiwane 2-3 razy w tygodniu.

Półtora roku Grzegorz Muszyński, prezes lotniska w Lublinie z dużym dystansem podchodził do współpracy z tanimi liniami.

Wizz Air announces 7th Polish airport: Lublin

  • Lublin low-fares to/from London and Oslo.

19/06/2012
Wizz Air, the largest low-cost, low-fare airline in Central and Eastern Europe, today announced it will start flying from Lublin to/from London-Luton and Oslo from Winter 12/13. These two low-fare routes will carry over 50,000 passengers per year and support 50 local jobs.

Wizz Air is renowned for growing tourism between Western and Eastern Europe since 2004 and its low fares support traffic growth and jobs at airports providing low cost facilities. Lublin airport is the latest addition to Wizz Air’s network of now 78 airports across 27 countries.

Wizz Air’s Lublin route to London-Luton starts 18 December (operating Monday’s and Friday’s) and is on sale from today with the Lublin-Oslo route commencing in early 2013 and going on sale soon. Early bookers on the Lublin – London-Luton route can book now fares from PLN75 (including mandatory taxes and highest booking fee).

We are pleased to announce our two new low-fare routes from Lublin to/from London-Luton and Oslo. Polish hospitality has been advertised all across Europe during the Euro 2012 encounters and Wizz Air’s low fares make it possible to capitalize on this renewed interest in Poland as an excellent tourism destination. Students on a budget are our most loyal customers and the strong student community in Lublin will welcome our low fares to visit home or inviting their friends and families – because now they no longer need to drive for hours to Warsaw. Lublin’s people and visitors will save money every time they book their flights at wizzair.com”, - said Daniel De Carvalho, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air.

This is a historical moment. Today marks the beginning of another stage that brings us closer to the official opening of the Lublin Airport. This agreement with Wizz Air is an important step for us which shows that our dream of having an airport is finally becoming reality. I am glad that we have been able to keep our word, and as promised, we're starting to build our network of connections in June”, - says Grzegorz Muszynski, president of Port Lotniczy Lublin S.A.

  • Mostar (OMO) - Dortmund (DTM)
  • Mostar (OMO) - Malmö (MMX)

Wizz from Mostar to Malmo and Dortmund

05.11.2012
Wizz Air will launch flights to Mostar from Malmo and Dortmund next year, Enver Bijedić, the Bosnian Minister for Transport and Communication has confirmed. Talks with the low cost airline will be held on Friday when details regarding the new flights will be discussed. At the meeting, Wizz Air will also lay out its terms and conditions. “The future of Mostar Airport lies in religious tourism which will bring lots of passengers. In the past, pilgrims visiting the Medjugorje sight used to arrive via Dubrovnik and Split”, Mr. Bijedić explains. The low cost airline, which is quickly expanding throughout the former Yugoslavia, has also shown interest to launch flights to both Tuzla and Sarajevo as well.

Earlier this year, the Bosnian government cut the mandatory ten euro airport tax at Mostar and Tuzla, which was seen as an obstacle for low cost airlines. The tax remains in force in Sarajevo. Mr. Bijedić explains it is necessary as it is used to partially finance the Bosnian national carrier B&H Airlines. “By removing the tax we have attracted airlines to Mostar and Tuzla”, the minister explains.

Mostar Airport has enjoyed an outstanding year. It is expected to handle some 80.000 passengers by the end of the year and is closing in on its all time record of 100.000 passengers, achieved prior to the breakup of Yugoslavia. Mostar Airport opened its doors for commercial traffic in 1965. It experienced a passenger boom in 1984 when it was used as an alternative for Sarajevo during the Winter Olympic Games. Last year the airport welcomed 36.800 passengers, which was surpassed by June in 2012. Today, the airport is mostly used by Catholic pilgrims visiting the town of Medjurgorje, following reports of visions of the Virgin Mary. However, Wizz Air’s planned routes from Mostar indicate it is counting more on diaspora traffic from Sweden and Germany, rather than religious tourism.
